A Circular Table

When I breathed and cried amidst the faces unknown
You were the ones who told me “you are not alone”.
When I trembled to face the new world at school
You taught me to make new friends and be cool.
Then that day when I was beaten black and blue
You explained lovingly - one and one makes two.

You held my hand and stroked my hair to take away
All my pain and despair with your gentle utmost care.
You held me tightly and took all the beatings on my behalf
From the storms, the troubles and the tragedies which befell.
Behind my success and my failure you stood firm and tall
It is your morals and values that answered “why do we fall?”

One day when I gave away my heart to a lovely girl,
You thought the bridges were burnt
And the table had turned
But it was actually my turn to serve
To stand beside you to provide what you deserved.

It wasn’t those expensive gifts that could please you,
It wasn’t those delicious dishes that could delight you,
Like those moments when I made time especially for you.

When you were afraid of the old age and beyond
I held your hands and strengthen our eternal bond.
When you cried and breathed your last amidst faces unknown
I was there repeating those old words “Be sure you are not alone,
Wherever you are, my heart will always beat for you” – Your one and own,

The Path Of Life

I was traveling on an unknown road,
Which was half-paved and quite broad.
It was sloppy and slightly bent,
God knows where would it end?

The road was uneven with too much turns,
Sides were barren where light burns.
And my eyes were dazzled by light so bright.

I hurried a bit to escape the light,
But soon stopped eyeing the first sign of life;
They were sowing seeds with so much care
As if their own children were lying in layers!

The sight was too good to stand and stare,
But I moved on without too much care.

Then I saw them watering the seeds,
Nourishing and protecting them with too much heed.
I wondered whether they did the same,
When a baby was born to them!

As life moves on, so did I too,
And met a grand scene,
Where the small plants were dancing in cold loo;
Small plants hardly of some days,
Dancing and smiling in all possible ways.

As I moved on, I saw plants weaving their hands,
Plants which were growing up and firmly fixed to the land;
Even then the guardians were taking utmost care,
To nourish and protect them so that no one else could dare.

These plants reminded me of my half-forgotten days,
I soon realized I was too old for such gay;
Their leaves were green and so were they,
What a lively childhood, there was nothing to say!

To stand and stare is a big crime,
So I moved on, as did time;
Plants had grown up and had turned into small trees,
And their enjoyment and liveliness,
Were snatched to a certain degree.

I need to be careful now due to unseen pitfalls
But I would move on to see what's there so tall!

So far the sides were nearly equal,
But then there was a total distinction
One was illuminated by sunlight,
While the other was in darkness, as if illusion.

I tried to make out what lay behind darkness.
Yes, there were trees which had lost their grace and tenderness;
They are bent and broken fruitless tress unlit even in sunlight!

I concentrate my sight on the brighter side,
Where trees stand tall with full of pride;
Some had got the fruits of their labor and some were yet to get,
Rather sure to get.

Slowly I progressed, as did moon,
And reached its end quite soon;
I was quite astonished
To see the withered trees.
Trees were perishing leaving no trace,
But there were some standing with grace.

They had no leaves but had thick stems and were tall.
They were dead but still alive and would never die at-all.

The road had now vanished in complete darkness.
I left it for some other day and showed no courageousness.

“Fair Is Foul and Foul Is Fair”
I couldn't dare to utter it here.

The Darker Half Of The Sky

It is always darkest before the dawn.
But what if that dawn brings forth a dark day?
What if the sun is darkened by the darker half of the sky?
What good is the other dominating half
When it has no power
To dominate over the darkness of the society!
Ironic indeed.

Men are born to rule over their so-called better half.
Is it by choice or by force named Society!
Society that highlights the ironically funny observations -
You can tell by the face of the father
Whether the newborn is a male or a female.
You can tell by the dress of a girl,
The character she possesses. Ironic indeed.

If it is a boy, he is a blessing.
If it happens to be a girl, she is simply a curse.
Yet a Goddess is worshipped
To overcome such a curse. Funny indeed.

Everyone will support 'save girl child' movement
But no one prefers to have one.
The short-films that speak of 'gender equality'
Pays less to a girl actor. Hypocritical indeed.

The same Society where -
A girl is blamed for the rape, when the rapist is a man.
Education is not mandatory for a girl,
Yet a topper is most likely to be a girl.

When a man makes it big in life, it is called achievement,
When a girl does the same, it becomes exception.

It is absolutely ok if a boy is seen
Gelling with multiple girls.
It is absolutely perfect to call a girl - Slut,
 When the reverse happens.

Men get to choose their life partners,
Women are the ones who are deprived of the same,
Yet the parents have to pay the price for their daughter!

Men are considered to be emotionally strong
While women are deemed as weak.
Is it a crime to be an emotionally expressive person?
Isn't that what makes us humane?

This is just a peak of an iceberg of the stereotype
Modern society that speaks for itself.
That behind every successful person, there is a woman,
Maybe it is time to substitute behind with beside.

The half of the sky belongs to men,
The other half makes our existence possible.
A Daughter.  A Girl.  A Woman.  A Lady.  A Mother.

It is always darkest before the dawn.
But what if that dawn brings forth a bright day!

Which half becomes the brighter?

That Day

An uncertain world lies ahead in that unknown desert
Without my parents whom they have brutally snatched.
I walk on this dusty road befriending our dark silence
With an unending stretched line and colours unmatched.

Lost are those golden days that were once quite ordinary;
The bluish sky and the greenish earth without a fair war.
Where there was life, there is power and possession now.
And here we are still unaware of what exactly to search for.

There is no miracle in life and neither is it actually meant to be;
People always protest and mourn for deads from far corners
But never does one talk of sharing shelters for faces unknown
‘Cause they become objects of disgust once they cross the borders.

One can’t stop crawling even if the narrow tunnel is pitch dark,
This ain’t an adventure; this is us without any alternative route.
Hope still burning within like a silver lining to survive and win
Where most would give up and curse the powerfuls for the loot.

I walk on this dusty road befriending my hopeful hope.
May be someday, someone will understand my miseries.
May be someday the world will listen to me with tears.
May be someday I will change the way people live their lives.
May be someday that day will come too.

That day when the world is mine too.

Versions Of Love

We were too young to realize the uncharted territory
That we breached when we used to be together.
That unknown crush was softly crushing our minds
And a baby feeling kindled in our heart of hearts.

So many bridges were burnt across the horizon,
Yet on the other day, we were busy rebuilding them.
And those torturing moments when we were apart
Made our heart to doubt about a blazing infatuation.
But the love-defining moments of togetherness
Were powerful enough to let us walk arm in arm.

The eternal decision to be together forever and after,
To rapture the limit of time and space that existed.
Some unknown faces expressed their wicked thoughts
Of lust that made us to unite so early in long-lasting life.

And here we are counting days and nights of our life
Of our unconditional love that never seems to cease.
The lamp and feast of our life nearing its end slowly
Yet here we are trying to find the reason why we love
Why we care, why we are here so ignorant of love.

When you fall in love with someone at her first sight,
That is not love my friend, that is a mere crush.
When you love someone so much that it makes
you feel that you cannot live without her,
That is not love my friend, that is infatuation.
When you love someone simply because
she looks awesome throughout,
That is not love, that is lust.
Love is when you care for someone till the last day
of your life without knowing its reason.
‘cause Love is unconditional and unending.
Love is the secret of a happy life.
Be gentle with its delicacy.

History's Mystery

Time has witnessed repeated evolutions
Science has revealed several illusions
Hidden behind are unconcluded non-fictions
Light and knowledge - still exceptions.

That night was glorified with silvery moonlight
A handful of glow worms were insight
The horse arrived in ‘dale of hell’
Carrying the philosopher to remove its dark shell.

Though the surrounding was dark in colour
The philosopher was known for immense valour
The nature being so vividly alive
Silence and darkness prevailed in delight
But the haunted house - without moonlight.

The philosopher sat beside the lake
And put on his stylish specs
The trees and waves were dancing with a shake
As if there was an earthquake.

Some bats flew over with broken vibrations
Thy heart trembled with upsurging motion
Ever his brain ceased in total confusion.

The leaves murmured in gentle breather
Owl's call was heard hither and thither
Horror and terror surrounded the philosopher.

Thus he stood up and turned around
Saw white spirits in far surround
They were all floating near the sky
Perhaps they had wings to fly...

He had nearly fainted discovering the scandal
But courageously approached and lit up a candle
It was a haunted house darkly invisible
For time and science it was totally incredible.

He knocked the door just before
With his heart broken into parts
The hosts were none but ghosts
Along with them were bats and cats.

He entered the house unwillingly
Perhaps something attracted him unknowingly
His destiny suddenly came to a stand
As he was in no man's land.

The time was nearly dead of the night
A strong breeze suddenly blew off his light
...What happened next is anybody's guess
Science is in a mess solving this case.

But the real mystery was not the haunted house
But the one carrying them in their state of drowse
The horse itself was the supreme phantom
The only ruler of this mysterious kingdom.

Dale of hell is a dark shell
Where life is reduced to a single cell.
Its
History will always be a mystery
Unsolved and Unexplained.........

Life - The Biggest Strife
Life that smiles today
Will shortly pass away
Time too short to achieve so lot!

Life is never a bed of rose
Unless you're in right course
Try and be the next Subhash Chandra Bose!

Sweat under the sweet present
To make your future pleasant.
Let the evil past be forgotten fast
Let it be destroyed by rust...

Determination has no substitute
Man makes his own destination.
Give resistance to temptations
You are sure to be the champion.

Don’t wait for god to help
Overcome obstacles helping yourself
“Next to God are thy Parents”

Make your name immortal
By acquiring hearts of mortals
Do not stop till head drops and heart comes to a stop!

Life is dark without smile
Never lead a life of vile.
Do not fall in the trap of love
‘cause love itself is the biggest bluff.

What is life without pain?
Pain gives way to gain.
What is life without loss?
Loss makes one big boss.

Life itself is the biggest strife
A constant fight against all knives.

In the midst
My friends

Take time to live
‘cause this world
Has so much to give.

Dream Or Reality?
I was reading a horror book
With an intense terror look
Alone inside my tent
With a slight bend.

Suddenly the light went faint
I didn’t try to mend
From nowhere I heard a call
Calling my name 'Paul'.

“Who is it?”
I cried a bit
I went out around
To find no one to sound.

It was June
With a full moon
There were some pale pieces of cloud
Hanging around.

Suddenly there was a bolt from the blue
Without any clue.
I screamed
“Is it my dream?"
I hurried back to my bed
And there I laid.

Suddenly the owl were hooting high
As if someone was sure to die.

The bats were flying
Beneath I was lying
Again I heard the call
Calling my name 'Paul'.

I couldn’t move my lips
I was in deep sleep.
Sadly I couldn’t see the next morning
My dead body laid only for mourning.

Now I am far from this earth
To renew and to take a new birth.

Surely someone called my name 'Paul'
I will be back to solve it once and for all.

Was it my dream?
Or was it death that screamed?

Midnight Silence

The clock strikes its ultimate hour.
All the hustle and bustle
All the din and dust
Subsiding like another heavy shower.

The rustle of wind slowly fading
With earth's aimless motion invisibly ceasing.

Then that mere drop of dew
With glowing worms in contrasting hue
And that seducing vibration harmonizes
With your shuttle soul's alertness.

The sublime emptiness calmly descending
From that prescribed eternity
And your soul still animated
With 'certain certainty'.

You feel the heaviness of eyeline
And a cold chill through your spine
'Cause at last you discovered
that ecstatic enjoyment.
Your heart and soul
urging you to seize the moment.

And now awakening of your old lost soul
From the base of your oppressive hole
Leaving all bondages beneath
Wanting to breathe and breathe.

And so with every breath of this fragrant air
Spread love and bliss everywhere.
Release your positive vibes in warm layers
As you have so much time to feel and stare.

No more heavy heartbeats to give you pain
Or touchy agitated mind to make you insane.
Neither any weight nor burden to care
As all your worries reduce to bare.

Such is the peace and power of our mother Nature.

Ultimately that secret realisation
Reveals itself unto you to think.
That which surrounds and nourishes us
Is often the one that is taken for granted
And valued only when they are no more
Be it our Parents or our beloved Nature.

Love the one that loves you unreasonably
And just take your time to live
'Cause this Unparalleled Nature

Has so much to give.
